Jabra Evolve 75 in Dubai is the first headset to officially pass Microsoft’s new, and stricter, voice requirement standard for devices certified for Skype for Business. This version of the Evolve 75 is optimized for use with Skype For Business. It will work with other programs and applications but if you don’t intend to use it with S4B you can save a dollar and go with the standard version, the Jabra Evolve 75 Stereo UC Bluetooth ANC Headset.
The open-plan office is here to stay and whilst it enables greater collaboration and a more social atmosphere, when you need to focus, the interruptions and general noise levels can simply stop you from working effectively. Evolves come with a USB dongle to enable them to work with your computer or laptop (NOT A DESK PHONE unless you have Bluetooth or USB functionality on the handset). So it’s for video conferencing, Skype, softphones, dictation, listening to audio files (Pandora, Spotify, etc and of course your own music files) or video. And of course, the headset itself is Bluetooth so your mobile phone will also connect.
The Active Noise Cancelling helps you manage background noise allowing you to focus on the task at hand (or your music/call). You don’t want to have to take the headset off to turn off the ANC every time you need to chat so there’s a handy ‘listen in function’ allowing you to clearly hear what’s going on around you. Let’s start off with the audio quality. Since the Jabra Evolve 75 is wireless, we ran the audio files while remaining within 1 meter of the Bluetooth receiver as a precaution to avoid any signal loss. We did switch off all Bluetooth devices in the vicinity but let other devices that operate on the 2.4 GHz band remain powered on. It would be prudent to say that these are not going to appeal to anyone who’s interested in enjoying their music in a crowded office room. Not just because the extraneous noise but also because the audio sounds very muffled in the mid-range and higher ranges. There’s an ample amount of bass but nothing to the extent that would satiate bass-heads. Don’t get us wrong, for a wireless headset, this is decent and given the fact that they don’t even advertise to appeal to music lovers, it only reinforces that opinion.
